Game Engineering working on ABN’s new pig-feed production facility
ABN is the UK’s leading pig and poultry feed producer and Game Engineering have completed a project to prepare the Langwathby Mill facility for its new production facility.
The mill was in desperate need of extensive refurbishment and Game initially conducted a site survey using 3D mapping technology. Having then been awarded the contract, Game supplied all the mechanical handling including the conveyors and elevators, all the ducting and surge hoppers and all the structural steelwork.
From the receipt of the order, Game Engineering had just six months to complete what was, an enormous amount of work which kept ten members of staff busy for the entire project. Justin Ward was the Game Engineering Project Manager: “We have completed projects for ABN in the past and they are one of those companies that you enjoy working with. Langwathby Mill was not the easiest of projects in that the building dated back to the 1970’s which meant that a total refit was necessary from electrical and water supply through to the system installation. The result is a mill that produces between 250 and 300 tph daily but which could, if necessary, achieve 430 tph daily.”
Lindsay Sharp, is the Project Manager for ABN: “Game Engineering were selected for the Langwathby project based on the confidence gained working with them for many years on time-bound projects, their knowledge of our requirements and standards as well as their project management experience. The latter was extremely critical given the complexities of carrying out a significant construction project on a partially manned site that was not operational, the interface between customer and contractor being such that all project objectives were successfully completed and to a high level of Health and Safety compliance.”
