Sand Elevator Replacement

Objective:

To replace an existing, worn out, sand elevator.

Problem:

The client needed to replace an existing sand elevator which had worn out. The existing elevator had down legging due to product sticking in the buckets, the salt in the sand was corroding the buckets and the bucket shape was wrong for the application.

Solution:

GAME initially removed the existing elevator and manufactured and installed a new inlet transition between the existing cross feed belt conveyor and the elevator inlet.
This was manufactured from mild steel with removable UHMW Polyethylene liners. The new heavy-duty belt and bucket elevator was designed to lift 50TPH of damp sand with a bulk density of 1.4 tonnes/m³ 25 metres. The elevator head, boot and leg casings are galvanised for protection against corrosion.

GAME also manufactured and installed a platform and support mounted to the silo top and extending out around the elevator, used to maintain the elevator and to support a new vibratory feed tray.

All health and safety documentation, maintenance training and books were supplied by GAME.

Result:

The success of this elevator and feeder system led to more jobs for GAME with the client and both companies look forward to a long and promising partnership.
